After considering whether I should grab a DVP while they're still
available, I decided to wait. Other options available are Soundcard/
LTA software and W9XTs Contest Card. One advantage of the DVP that
would be lost is the ability to send serial numbers, but I'm not
interested in many where this is part of the exchange. Most of the
time all that is required is a simple voice keyer for CQing and sending
5905 etc. I guess the DVP can supposedly also send the other guys call
but I've heard that this is tricky to implement for various reasons.
The Soundcard approach requires you to build an interface and switchbox
along with any required rfi debugging. The W9XT card comes with an
interface and also has a builtin CW keying interface. Plus it doesn't
require any interrupts which is a BIG plus to me. The W9XT Contest Card
gets my vote.

K1VR: I've always put my cables in the inside, if possible,
for a very pragmatic reason. I have a shield (made from a
4' x 8' sheet of plywood) on the bottom, and inside permits
it to be held tight -- preventing climbing.

Hello
Does anyone tell me about SAC rules for SCANDINAVIANS ?
During stay of Svalbard, I worked some stations in SAC.CW. But I can't
complete my log, because I don't know rules for scoring and multipliers.
If someone shows them, please mail to me.

get the software to work with a sound board NOT built by Creative Labs.
The board is a Rock 16 16-bit sound card from Oak Technology. (The board
was bought for the "family" PC but I wanted to try in in the "radio" PC for
CQWW.) I installed the board and it passes the test routines. However,
when I try to run "CVB" I get a "Unable to initialize card and/or driver"
message. CVB seems to require "ct-voice.drv" driver to work, but the Rock
16 software has no such driver. I tried to rename the provided driver and
th system just hangs up.
Any ideas on how to make this combination work? (While I scrounge around
for a genuine Sound Blaster board to check the CVB software)
