I would also like to know this! I have been sending a "request" message
every couple weeks, thinking the machine had problems at the other end,
but haven't seen anything from the DX reflector yet!

Is it defunct? Or having troubles?

appox two weeks ago i asked for a couple of items:

one: i asked for help/your expertise in a boom mike headset for my
IC781 in determining the best of contest audio for same.

i heard from a lot of you and i respect the fine advice i received.

i'd like to thank each and everyone who responded, particularly those
who I didn't reply to directly. I appreciate your ALOHA.

the second: i asked that you hear me out on the problems we insular
areas are experiencing regarding "packet racket" within the 40 mtr
     dx-window.
my expertise being within the pacific basin and my observations, facts
and perceptions of the discourteous (sic) amtor/packet operations,
     which are worsening.
i've discussed the problem it with the fcc engineer-in-charge,
honolulu, and jack has given me much advice. several of the lead
dx'ers here are planning to petition the fcc, as a last resort.

i had much positive feedback from many, many of you north american
amateurs and some enriched advise from many overseas amateurs as to
their same observations and aspects of the 40 mtr dx window "mess".

i only had one feedback which was negative. i'm still working with
that person explaining the situation which the majority of you grasp
by your comments, recommendations and advice. it seems that person is
out of step with the rest of the knowledgeable ham radio community.

i heard from people i've not heard from in many years. some i've had
the pleasure of the company and some via correspondence. i didn't
realize the this "reflector web" reached so many and their ideas,
ideals and thoughts have been enjoyed these last few weeks i've been
     on here.

again, i wish to thank you all and wish you the best in dx and
     contesting. keep in touch.

again from my propagation expertise, this solar cycle appears, from
the most recent data and projections, to "bottom out" about
august/september 1997. over the next two years, that date may move
     later into 1997.

i wish i could lie to you and tell you differently about the bottom of
this cycle 23, but i cannot. i guess it is better to be a pessimist
than an optimist in propagation. the solar flux for today, just
received, is 72 and downward trending. an upward trend is not expected
for another couple of days. the geomag is expected to be unsettled to
active to minor storminess anytime now due to recurrence of coronal
holes to the disk. the a-planetary is expected to be 06-07 today.
k-indices have been quiet to unsettled over the past 24-hrs. this is
for our foreign members on here who are unable to copy the wwv/wwvh
forecasts. 73, lee, bloomin' zipper flipper
