Well, I used my first try in the NAQP to try out TR. After having the the
son and his family over for a Bar-B-Q, I put in 3 1/2 hours of playing with
TR and giving out a few Q's. This reminded me of the old CD parties. I
believe I'll be back, and TR, for a more serious effort.

Noting the Texas DX Society's NAQP scores and knowing how SS usually
goes, I wonder, is it unanimous that Texas -- even North Texas -- is the
place to be for domestic contests? Or would STX, WTX, NM, or other

WX0B solution to FT-1000 1000 microF capacitor discharge problem is typical
over-kill which uses 2 diodes and another expensive 1 mF elco and DOES NOT
help at all. I prefer KISS approach to obvious manufacturers oversight.

Subject: Keyboard CW from PC?

Hi all. OK, I know this isn't strictly a contest related subject but it's
the place where answers to questions always seem to be found!
I had a disabled ham visit me over the weekend who suffers severe
arthritis in, amongst other things, his hands and arms. He used to be
very keen on CW but now finds it hard to control a key or paddle. He
was very impressed by "ct" as he has a PC and finds typing not too
painful. He was also impressed by the "keyboard-mode" of ct as he
thought being able to send ordinary CW via a keyboard would be a
way that he could have normal QSO's (or even contest QSO's) without
having to use a paddle or key.
What I am wondering is if anyone knows of any software that is available
(via ftp???) that allows a PC to be used to generate CW with an output
via a COMM or LPT port such that it could be interfaced to the rig.
i.e. to make a CW keyboard cheaply!
Any help would be much appreciated.
