>K7FD asked what to do about an electric fence problem:

Instead of asking him to turn it off, offer to "fix" it for him.

Electric fences can coexist with Hams. Check for cracked insulaters,
poor "twitsed" connections, weeds touching wires....etc.
I did this with my neighbors fence, and we found a couple of
poor connections. The best time to do it is on a very quiet
"dry" evening. In the dark it is often easier to see and hear
the offending arc as you walk the fence line. Take along a couple
of "long necks" for the neighbor as well. A friend and a pair of
walkie talkies is also helpful so he can kill the power to fence
with out having to walk back to the charger every time you need to
touch something to fix it. Now I get a "pop" every 4 seconds which
my noise blanker takes out easliy.

I have heard that some brands of fence chargers are quiter than others
as well if someone can indentify them for you, You can offer to
buy and install one of the quieter ones.

Another alternative which works if you have a single noise source is
the ANC-4 noise canceller. It can only null one noise source at
a time so if have you two sources tough luck.

Personally while not "fair" the above approach is in my opinion worth
the time, expense and goodwill and in the long run will make a friend
out of your neighbor instead of an enemey.
