You guys like horror stories, here's mine!

Last week I receive a knock on the door and open it to find a RCMP (Royal
Canadian Mounted Police). No he didn't bring his horse.

He advises that there has been a complaint filed against me of interference
and that I am running too much power. I must have looked at him strangely
because he said "All one has to do is look at the size of your antennas to
know that you are running too much power". I invited him in and he proceeded
to state that I was bothering someone's phone and TV. Whose, he never
stated. I tried to explain to him which government department had
jurisdiction over radio when he stopped me cold with "I have juridiction and
can charge you with harrassment under the law". I handed him the regs
(RIC-25) which listed Communications Canada and the proper ministry. He
glanced at them and said "NEVER HEARD OF THEM! Another small ministry that
tries to get in the way!". He further advised that any time I got on my
radio he could write me up on a charge of harrassment. This was one very
beligerent RCMP. He then asked "Did they run you out of town at the last
place you lived because of radio interference?". At that point I said "I'll
throw 20 grand in the hat and we find out what's right and who has
jurisdiction". This slowed him down long enough for him to listen to me talk
about how to suppress tvi, etc. His comment was "You expect them to spend
hundreds of dollars to correct a problem you're causing?". I explained that
the figure was closer to $20 and tried to give him a primer on what caused
rfi, why, etc. I also showed him my license. He then looked at me in a calm
manner and said "In other words what you're telling me is that what you're
doing is legal and that you're operating within the perameters of your
license and that you're not doing anything wrong." "Absolutely correct", I
replied. I handed him a tip sheet on RFI and he said something about having
another call to make and left. I've not heard anything since.

Does this qualify as the best horror story of the week?
Bill, VE7SBO, etc.

"The FCC told me that gate 2 is for new clubs. Gate 1A applications would
not include the 25 call wish list. I hope someone else can verify my

Hose,

Gate 1 is for previously held calls and Gate 1(A) is for previously held
club calls. If the call wasn't previously held, then you must wait until
another gate. 73.
