So how are these people supposed to get the word out about
their spending all that money to go on a trip for a contest/Dxpedition?
I don't think believe that his message was the type of soliciting
a QSO like we see so often on the packet boards on the clusters!
If you refuse to work every group that sends out one of these messages,
So I guess you'll be the only one being hurt by not working all these
groups as they'll probably have many other 5-Land stations who read
their messages to QSO them. So I guess you'll be missing many
needed multipliers well as your chance to win! <if thats what your trying
for!>

Hi all,
Can anyone help me with what I need to do to get a
Heil HM-10 mic with the DX element, believe it is the
#4 element, to work with a Icom 745? This last spring
I sent one to Jim, 5H3JA, so he could punch through
the noise a little easier with the new mic instead of
the hand mic. I have convinced him to get on CQ WW
phone this year so this new mic would be helpful for
him in the pileup. Probelm is, ever since he has got
and started to use this new mic his signal is always
weaker than Jon, 5H3CA. (Who I have also convinced to
give CQ WW a try.) Jim came back from a 6 month leave
and started to use the mic and we never made the connection
that it was his audio, not the ant like we thought, that
was giving his signal trouble. (I know, it seems obvious now
but, you had to be there!) On a hunch last weekend I had him
try the hand mic and wham, his signal came up 3 S units. I
would really like to get the Heil working correctly so he can
be heard a little easier in the pileups. Any help would be
appreciated.
For those of you who think the sunspot low has made DX skeds very
unreliable, read on. Jim and Jon both run only 100 watts to a Lighting
Bolt 2 element 5 band quad at 40 to 50 feet and I run 500 watts to a
roof mounted tribander at 33 feet. In a little over 2 years we
have only not made the sked 3 times, with skeds scheduled every week
to two weeks! Sure, sometimes the signals really stink but, we get
through on phone enough to hear and understand each other.
Look for both of these guys during CQ WW. Jim was in it two years
ago and really enjoyed himself and handled the pileups quite well
for a novice. Jon is new to it but, I have been giving him some
training on how to contest so don't scare him away from giving out
a rare multiplier!

fiddle with it. It's an experiment, and it may well break at times.

Note to PC-LAN mail users: Most of these mail systems are not mature
