I have updated my Java based contest optimized propagation
prediction program so that it now can give you polar maps.
You can select rectangular (the default) north pole, south
pole, or centered at any other point polar projections. these
are all overlayed with propagation, sun rise/set, and great
circle paths. an interesting way to visualize greylines.

Lynn,
Some commercial devices for antenna static dissipation are connected
through a series resistor. You might try connecting the elements to the boom
through a resistor of a few kilo-ohms or more. This would allow a static
discharge path but should not cause any serious antenna degradation since
the elements centers are at a low impedance point and the connection
through the resistor presents a much higher impedance.

A lot of problems during this contest.
The brake of the HAM IV did not work and the KT34XA went around with the wind.
For more the 80 vertical did not work the first night and the 40 delta loop went

Dear friends contesters,
In order to cover the 80 meters phone band I have just ordered a DX-A Sloper,
manufactured by Alpha Delta. I have a feeling that this antenna is not
"terrific" but at least I have enough room on my roof for it and besides I will
have 160 also.
I have already asked about the DX-A performance for a friend but perhaps there
are newcomers to this reflector who can give me some additional information.
I will mount this antenna on the top of a 25 foot mast (over the roof).
I don't intend to win any contest but at least I wish to increase my low band
score during the upcoming contests.
If you have this antenna, please let me know also how the SWR set up is done.
How about the performance? Is it noisy like most verticals (like my HF2V)? I
intend to install the 55ft leg like an inverted V, with some slope. Does it
work better in a down-lead configuration?
I am primarily interested on 80/SSB as mentioned above.

Just curious:
WE9V received our plaque for our effort in DX SSB from FS5PL. It was
a Multi-2. Chad tells me the plaque looks good and all, but there are
no operators listed on it. I found that to be kind of odd being that
it was a multi-op, which takes more than one operator in most cases.
I am told that this is SOP by the league. Is it me, or does this seem
like it oughta be changed? Has anyone ever gotten a plaque from the
league that has the calls listed on it... whatever the contest is? I
have never won any wood before, so I don't know.
