Hi Fred,
And according to ARRL Bandplan, 7080 - 7100 is digital.
There are just too many bandplans and not enough bandwidth!! It's so mixed
up, I once got an Official Observer citation for working dx in a rtty contest
on around 7040 (Dx RTTY frequency); despite fact that 7040 is listed as
frequency for rtty dx and rtty is legal up to atleast 7150 (if not 7300, but
who would want to operate up there).
Unless we get more bandwidth (e.g., move Novice segment to 30 meters) I guess
we will just have to learn to share the spectrum. On phone test weekends,
the segment goes to ssb. During Rtty contests, to goes to Rtty. During CW
contests it goes to cw. The Qrpers get their segment during the week and on
non contest weekends. And if P5 or VK0H show up, all bets are off.

This message was posted a lot of days ago, but only NZ0V, Rob answered me:
He was in the same my boat. Are there, among you, Ladies and Gentlemen who
resolved our problem before? Any way to contact M2 via E-mail?
Thank you!
Hi everybody.
I could like linking my Orion 2800 rotator to my computer to use it with the
"Shift+F10" option of CT (automatic beaming of antennas). Manual of rotator
speaks about of linking to RS232 port, but I have not the wiring schematic.
Socket on rotator control box is a female DB9 and I have to link it to a
male DB25 on computer. Any idea?
Thanks since now.

Hi all,
If it would turn out that any P5 or VK0H would turn into a continous pileup
all over then I must say those guys who went should have stayed home.
Why make it more difficult than it is. The fact is we have bandplans made up=
by the IARU
ok so they are different in different regions. Ok in some coutries the=
bandplan isn't law, in others it is.
I wonder how contesters and DXers have survived the last 20 years or so=
using the bandplans we have
and even worked countries in other regions. Gee they must have learned=
something others can't.
It is only during these last 2 -3 years that the situation has become more=
crazy than ever.
Now is this due to old experienced operators getting memory lapses or is it=
newer operators
who need to be taught how to use the bands.
Obviously people have learned how to use split to utilize the bands this=
way. Why not learn the bandplan=20
of the other regions aswell!!!!!!! Atleast people who go on DX-peditions=
will have to do this or they=20
will end up in the wrong segments.=20
The CQWW committe must take their responsability to take this problem of=
people going outside the
bandplan serious and enforce the rules we have and if they are not enough=
make a rule that will cover the issue. CQWW is a great contest but right=
now people are turning it into a chaos in which the CQWW will get a bad=
reputation among all others on the ham-bands.
It is not very smart for a US station to call split listening on 7017 during=
CQWW. Ok he can maybe work the G-stations who obviously is not breaking the=
law but what about the other countries in EU. There are several who is not=
allowed by law to be there. Well I assume the station listening on 7017=
will not win as he will anyhow loose out on too many Multipliers.
The more people breaking the recomendations by IARU the more problems we are=
creating for ourselves
=20
The IARU are working to get us more space on 40M. But we do have competition=
about the bands
and while we have the bands we do we must make use of them the best way we=
can in a manner so that=20
people not interested in a contest still can work the bands. Or why are most=
of us otherwise against the nets
on the QRG's, they spread out blocking the bands and it seems some contester=
think we have to blocke the bands for others aswell.
We have bandsplans USE THEM!

The contest story:
After we won the CQWW M/S category in WWDX CW 94 and SSB 95 I was not sure
that propagation would help us again so much as it was happened
in the last two years. We well know that we have no chances against the
great M/S stations from South America and Caribbean.
In this situation is not easy to find the concentration that we need
to do a new great effort, but our goal has been always a good places in EU;
anyway propagation helps us again and we found unbelieveable conditions on
high bands, just a little below the last year so I think our score will be
good in Europe.
Low bands were amazing for the great numbers of multipliers available, we
lost a lot of its waiting for the 10 minutes rule and for our poor 160
meters antenna....but it was really possible to work more then 100 countries
on 6 bands.
Band summary:
160: We lost a lot of multipliers, our poor antenna and short windows opening
does not match the 10 minutes rules. We done just a little better then last
year with the same working conditions. We will try to have better ears in
future,
but our QTH on an hilltop sorrounded by woods doesn't give us the
possibility to put on any beverage antennas.
80: Till last year it was very difficult to reach the 100 countries on this
band,
now we are at 115 and we don't use it as running band, almost impossible to
find a frequency free. We received a great help from Fabio IG9/I4UFH lets us
to work new multipliers on his frequency. Franco I4AVG, our 80 meters man
was very tired, but a great time was had by him.
40:Always a great band for us, impossible to listen on our transmitting
frequency, nice
US pile up during the first night, work US pile up on split at 150 QSO/hour
is really a good rate.
20:The best runner band this year. Nice opening in the morning to Pacific
over the long path, and nice US pile up in the evening, better on Sunday.
15:Another very good year for 15 meters, not like 1995 (2300 QSOs), but with
very good opening to east (JA, VK and Asia) and afternoon pile up from US
(zone 5 and 4), only N6AW from the zone 3 during Sunday afternoon when
signals from US were just a little bit stronger then Saturday.
10: Certainly the most captivating band, with short opening to east (VK,
VS6, XX9, VU..), some sporadic E signals from EU, and good African station
on the band.
Weak signals from south America and Carabbean and it was very difficult to
work them
thru the US pile up. Incredible 10 minutes open to US on Sunday, we
immediatly change the runner band on 10, just to log 26 US station from zone
5 only.
What a band....!!!!
Thanks to all who called, and moved from one band to another on our request.
Special thanks also to our friends members of the MCC (Marconi Contest
Club), who
gave us a great help on the low bands from IG9.
See you on CW at the end of November.
A new & nice QSL card, with our antennas, is available.
