Got a good number of replies to my inquiry.
The overwhelming majority felt a LP filter still should be used, even
if the neighborhood is CATV-ized.
Regarding choice of LP filters, the ICE filter won by 3:1 over the
Bencher.

Always wondered if the practice originated with the idea to maximize the
duration of band openings. Since, on 10, 15, 20 short path long hauls at
least, in a simplified view, bands tend to open from the bottom up and
close from the top down, so in theory folks operating at the bottom get a
little more open time. Whether this would, in fact, ever be significant is
open to question.

Hallo there,
a couple of weeks ago I was asking for some details on how to
switch the Dunestar filter automatically using either the computer log or
the band map of the radio.
Several people replied to my question, and basically informed
me of the availability of a commercial switch box supplied by Top Ten
Devices that does exactly that (ca $100). Top ten devices have a web page

Some people (including myself) were wondering if somebody has a
homebrew design. You can contact me directly. Any graphic format
