Thanks to everyone who corrected my 2am dyslexia. I thought it was
strange. But hey what do I know at 2am with my ears ringing and my eyes
bloodshoot.
BTW I worked my first contest Single/Op Assisted with a VERY modest station.
Icom-730 100 Watts.
135' Multiband Dipole
R5 for the upper bands
40 Meter Inverted V put up in the rain on Saturday since I wasn't happy
with the
performance of the Multiband Dipole on 40.
I worked hard Friday Night and Saturday morning after that I just played at
making contacts. Thanks to everyone who pulled me out of the noise.
My score was about 26,800 with about 105 QSOs
I'll post my actual score after I make sure there aren't any more T1MC's in
my log.
I had fun but it upsets me that the Single Op QRP stations kicked my butt.
Guess I better put up the A4S and finish the amp I'm building before the
next contest.
Also was it just me or were some of the stations really deaf? I know I
called several that should have heard me a dozen times when no one else was
calling and they just kept shouting CQ Contest.
Oh well, I'm hooked. I can't wait for the next contest. I'm trying to get
my CW speed up and pass the Extra.
Any hints for a beginner?
Thanks,
Kevin
