I have been asked by Tony, HS0/G4UAV, to put this announcement on the
reflector.
The Radio Amateur Society of Thailand is planning an all-out multi effort
in the 1997 CQWW CW from its club station HS0AC at the Asian Institute of
Technology near Bangkok Airport. SM3DYU and LA7JO are organizing the
effort which will also include VK3DXI, E21CJN and EY8MM. They would like
to have five or six more operators, however, to really make a full go of
it. PERMISSION FOR THE OPERATION TO UTILIZE 80 AND 160 METERS HAS ALREADY
BEEN OBTAINED.
Granted, this announcement is being made on very short notice. But
consider the fact that Thailand, never an expensive tourist destination to
start with, is now a real bargain with the dollar worth 60% more in the
local currency than it was a few months ago. The Institute has a
comfortable and inexpensive hotel right on the campus within easy walking
distance of HS0AC. Persons flying in on that Thursday or Friday, from the
US at least, can often get special discounts because of it being the
Thanksgiving holiday whereby most people have already arrived at their
destinations. No visa need be obtained in advance in order to enter
Thailand; you will be given a 30-day permit to stay in Thailand on arrival
at the airport.
If you are interested please drop a line to Tony at tonyw@mozart.inet.co.th
at once!
