KA9FOX's story of the wrong antenna reminds me of W3HVQ's story of a
contest...he decided to take a break and let his daughter (also a ham) op
for a while...before leaving the room he flipped a switch -- he thought
to the right antenna -- when he came back a while later she said it had
been a struggle but she'd made a hundred QSOs -- turns out it was with NO
antenna -- he'd flipped the switch to a no-antenna position. We said,
sign her up for PVRC, she must be a REAL contester!
