[CQ-Contest] 870 vs 1000MP

No comparison.  The FT1000MP is by far the better radio.  During SS I 
couldn't believe how much "junk" the 870 was hearing on a clear 
frequency.  I think the IF DSP stuff is another generation from being 
worth buying.  

The 870 does a couple of things extremely well.

1.  Noise blanker.  Unbelievable.  You turn this thing on and the noise 
goes away and the signals still sound the same.

2.  Auto-Notch.  Even better than on the Omni-6.  On SSB, you turn this 
thing on and a signal that you couldn't copy before is perfect copy.  
Really amazing.
