Well, it's obvious to me that in order to get results one must bitch loudly.
Here goes...
The following was sent to ARRL HQ after the release of the 97 SSCW results.
After no fewer than 5 reminder messages and almost a month, a brief and
mostly unresponsive reply was received from Billy saying "gee, we can't
check everything, good luck next time..."
Let's see what the masses think. Opinions?

Hi Billy,
While reviewing the November Sweepstakes CW results I noticed something
about the scoring that seems wrong. In the multi-op category, it
looks like only the top 12 "High Claimed Scores" were cross-checked
and had "reductions" taken. I believe that this practice could invalidate
the results (at least for some division leaders). For example, the
Hudson Division had three close multi-op scores where only one station
(NA2N+KY2J) received a score reduction. The other two stations AA2FB and
K2TW, were apprently not cross-checked. (Yes, this did alter the
standings).
At the bottom of this note I've attached a comparison of the top 25
multi-ops "high claimed" vs. "published" scores.
Please understand, I am not questioning the point reductions assessed
to the 12 top scores. However, I do think that (at a minimum) each
section/division leader should be determined using the same criteria.
Could you please re-evaluate the scores for NA2N, AA2FB, and K2TW.
One of these stations was the Hudson Division multi-op winner ...
but, I don't think it has been determined yet.
If I had to guess ... the K2TW+W2GD team is pretty tough competition.
I think this practice could also invalidate some "Division Records".
