[CQ-Contest] 160 NOISE

Subject: [CQ-Contest] 160 NOISE

Bob,

I had the same problem with a W1** that wouldn't give me a QSO. These guys
don't get it that they could have busted a call! I checked my log
carefully for him and nothing close on his call and I hadn't worked his
section yet. He finally told me we wrked b4 and please QSY. He is not in
my log and I am going to make sure the contest committee removes my call
from his log. HE DID NOT WORK ME! Best guess is that he heard me call
someone else close to his frequency and thought I was talking to him, but
when I searched @ pounced I sent the call of the station I worked just to
try to avoid this!!!! (at least for the first 10 hours) I had 12 dupes in
my log....Didn't hurt a thing. It is much faster to workem and forget
them. At least I know I am in their log!!!!

----------

My vertically polarized 160 antenna picks up 30-40 dB noise from some
local buzz saw around here.
That is what I weeded through last night.

I have seen several posted questions concerning some of the JPS and MFJ
noise cancelling products out there from people with a similar problem.
I have also seen promises to post real life experiences that potential
users were going to pass on to the reflector after getting one of these
devices. To date, I guess I have managed to miss these "results" postings.

Will somebody out there who has one of these things please tell me how
well/poorly it works for you??
Hearing nothing, I'll spend my money, but for which product?

BTW,
There is an 8 lander up there that insisted on telling me last night
that we had worked before, when I called him around 1215 GMT.
My responses of "NO NO NO" was an attempt on my part to tell him that
he was not in my log.
I'm sorry that he insisted on responding to my calls and my "NO NO NO"
with his repeatedly hitting F6.
He's not in my log, and I really did want him in my log.

THAT VERY WONDERFUL ADVICE GIVEN OUT ON THIS CONTEST REFLECTOR SO MANY
TIMES BEFORE IS ADVICE WELL TAKEN.......................
WHEN SOMEBODY CALLS YOU ................WORK 'EM !!
DON'T TELL YOU'VE ALREADY HAVE WORKED 'EM,
'CUZ YOU MIGHT ONLY "THINK" YOU'VE WORKED 'EM.

Only one of many good reasons to subscribe to this list.
