I 100 % agree with Tree. Having also a TS950 with a 500 Hz filter in the
1st IF and selectable 500 / 250 Hz in the second IF, I hardly remember
having made more than 2 QSOs with the 250 Hz filter in line. It was out of
a contest, of course. From the Eu side where we are used to run stations,
250 Hz is much too narrow to cope with the many "offset" callers.
