    I would like to invite you all to take part of the
Brasil 500 years Contest. Here are the rules.

CONTEST 500 YEARS AFTER
Promoted by:

LIGA BRASILEIRA DE RADIOAMADORES - LABRE
REDE DE EMISSORES PORTUGUESES - REP

1. Objetc:
The contest has in view to commemorate for amateurs worldwide the discovery
of Brazil on April 22, 1500 by Pedro Alvares Cabral, famous Portuguese
explorer and navigator.

2. Date and Contest Period:
Third full weekend of April. Starts 00:00 UTC Saturday; ends 24:00 UTC
Sunday (April 15-16, 2000).

3. Entry Categories:
a. Single operator.
b. Club Station (single or multioperator).
c. Receiving Station (SWL).

4. Mode and Band
Telegraphy (CW), all band (10,15, 20, 40 and 80 meters), on frequencies
recommended by IARU. All against all.

5. Contest Call
"CQ Test PY"

6. Contest Exchange
Signal report plus serial number starting with 001.

7. Scoring
a. Count three points  for each two-way QSO with Brazilian and Portuguese
stations;
b. Count two points  for each two-way QSO with stations in diferents
continents;
c. Count one point  for each two-way QSO with stations in the same
continent;
d. Count one point for each two-way QSO between Brazilian stations or
between Portuguese stations;
e. A station may be worked once on each band for QSO point credit;
f. Receiving stations will point the same way of the amateurs, although
with their classifications apart.

8. Multiplier:
a. The different prefixies of Brazil and Portugal. Prefix is the
letter/numeral combination wich forms the first part of the amateur call.
Examples: PY1, PY5, PP6, PP8, CT1, CT3, etc.
b. A prefix may be worked once on each band for multiplier credit.

9. Prefix Multipliers (DXCC)
BRAZIL: PP to PY and ZV to ZZ
TRINDADE and MARTINS VAZ ISLANDS: PP0;T to PY0;T; PP0;M
to PY0;M; ZV0;T to ZZ0;T; ZV0;M to ZZ0;M
FERNANDO DE NORONHA ISLAND: PP0;F to PY0;F; ZV0;F to
ZZ0;F
SAO PEDRO and SAO PAULO ISLANDS: PP0;S to PY0;S; ZV0;S to
ZZ0;S
PORTUGAL: CQ to CT
AƇORES ISLANDS: CU
MADEIRA ISLANDS: CT3

10.  Log Instructions:
a. All times must be in UTC;
b. All sent and received exchange  are to be logged;
c. Prefix  multipliers should be entered only the first time they are
worked;
d. Logs must be cheked for duplicate contacts, correct QSO points, and
prefix multipliers. Duplicate contacts must be clearly shown;
e. Use a separated sheet for each band;
f. Each entry must be accomplished by a summary sheet showing all scoring
information, contestant's name and adress in BLOCK LETTERS and a signed
declaration that all contest rules and regulations for amateur radio in the
country of operation have been observed;
g. Rules and forms may be found on the homepage at <<  http://www.labre.org  >>
h. Forms may be received by sending message to <<  labre@labre.org  >>
i. Paper entries should be made.

11.  Plaques and  Awards
a. World - 1st, 2nd and 3rd places - Plaques and Awards;
b. Continent - 1st, 2nd and 3rd places - Plaques and Awards;
c. Brazil - 1st, 2nd and 3rd places - Plaques and Awards;
d. Portugal - 1st, 2nd and 3rd places - Plaques and Awards;
e. Club Station - 1st, 2nd and 3rd places - Plaques and Awards;
f. Receiving Station - 1st, 2nd and 3rd places - Plaques and Awards;

A station can be elegible only one time to receive plaques and  awards.
Certificates will be awarded to every stations that send their logs until
June 30, 2000.
To receive plaque a station needs to make at least 25% of the World First
Place Champion.

12.  Disqualification:
Violation of amateur radio regulations in the coutry of the contestant or
the rules of the contest; unsportsmanlike conduct; taking credit for
excessive duplicate contacts; unverifiable QSOs or multipliers will be
deemed sufficient cause for disqualification. Actions and decisions of the
Contest Committee are oficial and final.

13.  Deadline:
All entries must be postmarked  NO LATER  than June 30, 2000. Logs should
be sent to Liga Brasileira de Radioamadores - LABRE; P.O. Box 04;
Brasilia-DF; CEP 70739-970; BRAZIL or sent to <<  labre@labre.org  >> as
attachments to the e-mail.
