[CQ-Contest] June QST arrives

A successful trip to the PO box this morning on the way to work resulted in
the latest issue of QST along with two fishing magazines.

Front cover photo of AA1GW operating a PSK31 rig (article inside) in a Field
Day-type scene, complete with tent, tree, battery, hatchet, cooler, first-aid
kit, etc., with the caption "Field Day 2000!" But..., where are the bugs?

K1ZZ?s editorial, "It Seems To Us...", this month is titled New License ? Now
What?. It provides 6 steps on how to make your new license more than just a
trophy. The steps include items on getting a rig and antenna, logging your
contacts, getting on nets, setting goals (WAS, WAC, DXCC), and comparing
notes with others. However, there is no mention of getting on to operate any
of the ARRL-sponsored operating events. And this issue?s front cover touts
Field Day 2000!

Ads:
Pryme Radio Products has full-page ad featuring their new GMRS HTs with the
caption "Get Your XYL on the Air...No Test Required!" However, the fine
print at the bottom states "FCC License Required".
Hy-Gain is back with a full page ad for their rotators.
ARRL is offering subscription deal for getting the UK?s RadCom magazine.
M2 has ad and picture of the new KT36XA tribander.
Mosley Electronics is back with "Dog-Gone" good deals on some of their
antennas.

That?s all for this issue.

On a sad note; last month I mentioned that I had visited the Tampa, FL area
ham dealer, RT Systems, and noted that they had back issues of NCJ, QEX, and
CQ Contest. Well, last week I received a letter from them indicating that
they were no longer in the ham radio retail business, having sold their
inventory to AES. A sign of the times??
