[CQ-Contest] [book] philosophy

Subject: [CQ-Contest] [book] philosophy

I think we will need a chapter that describes how to integrate
contesting with the activities of a "real" ham radio club and how
such a club can benefit from contesting in general. By "real" I mean
a club that includes a general cross-section of hams, from VHF only,
repeater users to the seasoned DX chaser or contester; I'm
specifically excluding contest clubs; you know what I'm talking
about. Although working within the PVRC's and YCC's might be another
chapter.

I wrote a short article in NCJ a few years ago about our small
club's participation in the Virginia QSO Party. That one annual
activity, along with Field Day, has shaped our club and inspired
many of our members to upgrade their licenses and has made us all
better hams.

I'll volunteer to do this one.

p.s. I strongly agree that this publication should be a paper book; the real
kind that you can loan to others or can read in bed or in other locations in
the house...
