[CQ-Contest] WRTC2002 Choice of Calls

Subject: [CQ-Contest] WRTC2002 Choice of Calls
From: dave@egh.com (David Clemons)

I'm sure you all noticed that the WRTC2002 hosts had OJ callsigns
assigned, which was the first time they were used in amateur radio
history. Did anyone else figure out why the OJ block was used?

        Hints:

           - it was done to honor a very famous contester, who originally
cq'ed from the center of US DX Contesting (New England!)

           - it was done to honor one of the original organizers of a
very famous state qso party (only %%% more days until the FQP!)
