Funny, I was just thinking about this a half hour ago as I was driving
(not much to do but think when you're on the road by yourself.)

There could be another reason - maybe he feels he's made sufficient money
on the program to warrant making it free at this point.  Maybe his goal
wasn't to get rich from it (as if that would happen!)  But maybe he feels
he's ben adequately paid back for the time he has invested in development.
