I am pleased to announce that we have a wide range of new trophies to
compete for in this year's IOTA Contest. My thanks to John G3LZQ for pulling
this together and, of course, grateful thanks to all the sponsors. Most
sponsors are listed; where no sponsor's name appears, the trophy is from a
corporate sponsor. Some rationalisation has taken place, as several of the
original trophies were not for retention, but returnable after 12 months.
This has proved difficult to administer, especially where the winner was
resident outside the UK. Most of the additional trophies and plaques are for
retention by the winners. Individuals and groups may only win one trophy
(for example, an "Island Expedition" winner cannot also be eligible for an
"Island" trophy).
>From six trophies in earlier years, there are now no less than 26 plaques
and trophies to compete for! Other categories will be eligible for
certificates of merit to leading entrants. We expect the programme to expand
even further in 2004, with increasing links to the IOTA awards programme, so
that your contest QSOs can give you a good start into the wider world of
