I have used and like the Soyo K7VTA-Pro motherboard for a good
compromise between the old technology (an ISA slot plus 2 serial
ports and one parallel port) and the new technology (fast processor--
up to 2600+ Athlon, USB (albeit 1.1 I think), 4X AGP, etc.  Plus the
price is pretty decent at $59.99 at TigerDirect.com
