What should I do? Do I say "no, not in my log" or just let
it go. Neither of these stations were mult's for me so the
loss on my part was minimal and I just let it pass. Seems
like it would be best for both parties to get it fixed but
what would you as the Op "with too many dupes" prefer me to
do if you say I'm in your log but you are not in mine?

I would say, emphatically, "You're not in MY log, we both need the QSO." You're actually doing him a favor by alerting him, during the contest, to a logging error. If he listens, and works you this time, I'd see nothing unethical in his making a note in his log at the time saying,"We didn't work him before, go back and delete that first QSO."

On the other hand, if he blows you off it will cost him because of the penalty QSOs. Simple self-interest should produce the right result.
