Check out http://www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/m3/index.html  The work has 
already been done.  I always wondered why a local friend, W5ZO, has such 
good performance from his verticals here in Amarillo.  According to the 
web site we have some of the highest conductivity soil.

You can download the map in smaller portions so you can get a better 
look at your specific area.
