A few hours ago the band was full of SSB signals up to 7001. The 40m band is 
simply too narrow in Region 1 to accommodate the huge attendance of major SSB 
contests. That's the naked truth and until this root cause will be addressed, 
it's pointless to hope any band plan will be observed.

I was amazed just now to hear VY2** CQing on 7017.3.  Surely this is too low 
for SSB, even by recent standards.  I know it's a voluntary bandplan, but 
sheesh.
