Observations:
* Yaesu is still the top choice of WRTC competitors overall, and the
FT-1000 family of transceivers (FT-1000, FT-1000D, FT-1000MP, MkV FT-1000MP,
and MkV FT-1000MP Field) account for half of all the rigs used at WRTC 2006.
* Icom was the top choice of North American WRTC teams, undoubtedly because
Icom USA was offering IC-756 Pro IIIs with Pelican cases as loaners.
* Kenwood is really trailing Yaesu and Icom in WRTC team choices, now
accounting for less than 8% of the radios used in the competition. The most
popular Kenwood rig at WRTC was the TS-850S/AT, first introduced to market
in 1990 and one of the oldest radio models used at WRTC 2006.
* No Ten-Tec, JRC, or FlexRadio rigs were used by any WRTC team.
* The Elecraft K2-100, a kit radio, was chosen by two teams, twice as
many as in 2002.
* The oldest radio model used in WRTC 2006 was the Drake R4C, which was
introduced to market in 1979 (I think). The next oldest were the Kenwood
TS-850S/AT, the Yaesu FT-1000, and the Icom IC-765, which were all
introduced to market around 1990.
