The November, 2006 issue of _QST_ includes the announcement of the
ARRL 10 Meter Contest on December 9-10, 2006. As the announcement notes,
even though we are at the bottom of the sunspot cycle, there are still
great opportunities to win your ARRL section, division, or DXCC entity!
And, there are still many unclaimed records available in the contest,
especially for QRP entry categories:

http://www.arrl.org/contests/results/10-meter-contest-records-dx.html

Some highlights:

* Single Operator, Phone, QRP section records remain unclaimed in 12 sections:
NNY, WTX, EB, SF, ID, NV, UT, MAR, NL, MB, SK, NT.

* Single Operator, Mixed Mode, QRP section records remain unclaimed in 11
sections: WMA, WPA, KY, SC, AR, MS, NE, NL, QC, MB, NT.

* Single Operator, CW, QRP section records remain unclaimed in 9 sections:
NNY, PAC, NE, ND, SD, MAR, NL, MB, NT.

* The Single Operator, CW, Low Power record remains unclaimed in the Northern
  Territories.

* The current Single Operator, Phone, QRP continental record for Africa was
made with just 50 QSOs; the current Single Operator, Mixed Mode, QRP
continental record for Oceania was made with just 84 QSOs.

* No station has ever entered the ARRL 10 Meter Contest in a Single Operator
  QRP category from DXCC entities like: 4X, 5B4, 6Y, 9V, C6, CE, CO, CT3, CU3,
  EA6, EA9, EI, GI, HK, HR, HS, IS0, KH2, LX, P4, TF, V3, VP2V, or VR2....

* The last time a category record score was set in Azerbaijan in any category
was 15 years ago, when stations were still using UD6 call sign prefixes!

* No Multi-Single record scores have ever been claimed from DXCC entities
  like: 4X, 6Y, 9M2, 9V, A6, BY, CN, CU3, HL, IS0, JT, T9, or VU....

* The Single Operator, Mixed Mode, High Power records for EA8 and JT were
each set 28 years ago. The Single Operator, Mixed Mode, High Power record
for 9H was set 29 years ago with just 89 QSOs....

Yes, that's right - you can travel to Hawaii, Jamaica, Aruba, or the Balearic
Is. in December, shove a vertical dipole into the sand, make a few QRP QSOs
from the beach, and maybe claim a new contest record! And you'll get
bragging rights for accomplishing it "at the bottom of the sunspot cycle"!
