What if you're doing sprint while partying with hooters girls and a keg?
Oops! I forgot to send QRL! =)

Seriously, there's many variables out there. Perhaps the other station
CANNOT hear you (or the signal is so weak, and there's other people next to
him that are loud, and he/she thinks this morsel of bandwidth is actually
open, when in fact, he is trampling on you and doesn't know it.

I remain convinced that it's not all done "on purpose" but, I have heard a
bunch of #@#$@# from someone after a contest of whom accused me of
"stealing" the frequency. Oh yeah, lil ol k9yo stealing a frequency with a
butternut vertical...............NOT.... I didn't hear whoever it was.

Oh oh ... that's not the way it's supposed to work, which could
understandably cause some upset individuals.

To the best of my ability, I try to always push the "QRL?" key at least once
before opening fire on a new frequency I will normally do it twice,
actually, but may relapse from time to time to once.

Ahhh yes, "confession is good for the soul". I commend you on your
forthrightness. "Been there, done that too."

You are probably right. "To err is human, to forgive divine" (unless the
same mistake is made again and again and again???).

We ALL really need to do the "QRL?" thing as much as possible, even though
it does take a few seconds to be "Good Neighbors". IMHO, most CW Sprint ops
set the "Gold Standard" of Contest operating. Tnx to the BARC gang for
Sponsoring such a challenging RadioSport event.
