So we get rid of a valuable tool because people use it to cheat?

How about stopping those that are using it improperly?

I have turned off announcement from the rest of the world on my cluster
because of all the nonsense that goes on across the pond.

Indeed, all the clusters should be disconnected.
Its not just the beaming info which is written, also valid qso data and

K1TTT: You think these cheerleaders are bad? You should see the
cheerleaders from the European VHF/UHF spotters over the weekend!

Selfspoting is accepted VHF practice in EU as we try to work DX with beaming
info!

ON4KST internet scheduling is also used. I am against both :-(
