The other other answer (besides "don't TU if you don't got it") is don't 
acknowledge the call in the 
first place if it is too weak to complete the contact. Obviously this is a 
judgment call and with 
practice you'll have a good idea of what to ignore based on signal weakness and 
also the complexity 
of the exchange for the contest (SS being "high"). Since you are rare, they 
will often try later.
