It was widely known - and accepted - that most of the SS Top 10 from 25-30 
years ago was employing SO2R tactics in some manner or another.  There were NCJ 
articles describing various switching schemes, methods, etc.

SO2R was never an "issue" until a convenient and nearly instantaneous soapbox 
known as CQ-Contest became widely available with the proliferation of easy 
Internet access.  Find any "Letter to NCJ" from years back that was against 
SO2R or calling for separation of 1R vs 2R.
