And from the rare Ohio section, I again plan to operate in the self
proclaimed category of "Single Operator - Multi Station". That is, about six
hours
each from N8TR, AC8E, K8AZ, and my own station.
For those who aren't obsessed with their position in the top ten or
something like that, this is positively the most fun way to seriously operate
SS.
Instead of grinding down to a walk on Sunday when it seems you have worked
everyone there is to work, you get multiple chances to start over with a clean
slate. As you become fresher and fresher meat, the rates actually go UP on
Sunday!
So ask around to find an otherwise unused station. Although the four
stations I now operate from are all excellent stations (only my own does not
have
full SO2R or a 40 meter beam), I've done SOMS from barefoot stations with
dipoles and a small tribander, and still had lots of fun.
This is also a great way to pile points for your contest club. Several
clubs have picked up on this idea; lots more ought to.
And I'm looking forward to being on the receiving end of the new group of
Skimmer users. We'll get to see how they perform in real life.
CU in SS!
