Just because that you can hear them, doesn't mean they were listening to the NorthWest for USA. Asia is still very open to the East of Europe when the path to the USA begins to open, and they'll be going for the multiplers to the East first, and then swing their antennas so they can hear you later, for their USA runs. Not knowing where those antennas were pointing makes a comparison of signal strengths pointless.
