FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MULTIMEDIA IN AMATEUR RADIO CONTESTING AT RADIO ARCALA

Amateur Radio contesting is not typically a public
friendly activity as an
extreme sport. With the power of internet as well as large
population
gatherings such as DX Summit, Radio Arcala is poised to
challenge all
historical scenarios by bringing live contest monitoring
and related
attractive live sessions to the public domain.

During this weekend's CQ WPX Contest, the Arcala team is
testing several
hi-tech functions. The range includes indoor and outdoor
webcams, score
monitoring and chat rooms. Live contest score review
studios are
still being tested for internal use by the team. Audio
playbacks are
similarly under testing. Also, target review and score
development
monitoring is under review. Soon registered stations and
teams are
competing publicly against each other, and these functions
will quickly
bolster needed public coverage during the race and can
push radiosport
to new heights.

Since many of these functions will theoretically
challenge traditional
patterns and rules for live monitoring of radio
contesting, many of these
features need to be assessed in the context of current
rulings. Hence they
will be implemented with care and together with contest
organizing.

You can now examine some of the technical capabilities
of these powerful
functions by clicking www.radioarcala.com and entering
the WPX 2009
  section.

These include a station OG8X M2 category in motion, a live
score sheet as
well as outdoor cameras on Radio Arcala's seven towers.
Tower 7 button
will give you a camera to look at a 300-plus ft. massive
rotating tower and
160M 3-L and 80M 5-L full-size beams.

Your feedback and ideas can also be presented in the chat
room publicly or
via oh8x@sral.fi privately.
