Who's up for the challenge of working all 254 Texas counties in a single
weekend. For the first time in several years it looks like Texas
amateurs will be able to offer that challenge.

Of course that weekend is next weekend -- September 25-26 -- when he
Texas QSO Party hits the road. We've got one county that is holding out,
interestingly it is Starr -- the lone Starr, deep in the Rio Grande
Valley. But we're working on that one and it looks like it will be
active also.

Currently twenty-six mobiles are scheduled to hit the road and not all
of them are Texas operators. We're getting some much appreciated help
from several mobiles from outside the state namely:

Bob-W0BH from KS will be covering a bunch of Panhandle counties
operating with John-N6MU from CA.
Jim-AD4EB from TN, part of that impressive N4ZZ Team from the TnQP, will
be lighting up the northern tier of counties eventually riding off into
the sunset near Amarillo.
Jim-N9JF from IL will be hugging the western border from El Paso to the
top of the Panhandle

And of course we have our own Texan mobiles involving 34 amateurs:
KK5LO(+K5WNO), N5TM(+K5GQ), N5XG, N5NA(+K5AKS), N5XTR, NO5W(+NM5G),
W5ETJ, K5MRA, WC5T(WK5S, W5MJ, K6RV, W9BF), WB0TEV(+KK5MR), K5NA(+K5OT,
W5ZL), N5DO(+K5FD), KE5MS, N3BB, KF5CRX, KE5LQ, KK5W(KK2Z, KD5QPK,
W5JMK), N5RZ, K5END, W3DYA, N4CD.

You'll recognize some familiar contesting calls in there but also, and
we are very pleased about this, some newbies who have decided to give
mobile contesting a go -- one in particular is a well known contester
who has never done mobile before.

To see where all of those folks are going in their mobile contesting
machines take a look at the website http://www.txqp.net and follow the
Routes 2010 link to maps and a lot of other info. Rules may also be
found on that site.

Come on down for some Bar-B-Qs in the Texas QSO Party Sept 25-26.
