The North American QSO Party on RTTY is coming up on Saturday
July 16th, 2011. The party runs from 1800Z July 16 to 0600Z July17.
For example, in Chicago that's 1PM Saturday to 1AM Sunday.
An "on-the-air" practice is planned the preceding evening (Friday)
from 0200Z - 0300Z July 16. For Chicago that's 9PM to 10PM on
Friday July 15. Check your messages, try a couple bands, get a
signal report and get ready for the party the next day. Use the
NAQP exchange and NAQP Rules, but no reporting or log submission.
Speaking of the NAQP Rules, they can be found at:
<http://www.ncjweb.com/contests.php> along with logging guidance,
previous results and the NAQP RTTY Records.
If you're new to RTTY, check out the Tutorials, Contest Messages and
other RTTY guidance by AA5AU at: <http://rttycontesting.com/>
This July should be especially fun with increased sunspots and
increased daylight bringing increased 10 meter contacts. Try a CQ
or two, instead of everyone just listening!
Also, a special expedition to North Dakota has been announced!
Look For W4HOD/0 operated by K9MUG, KA4PKB, AA4YL and
W0ZOK. This should bring a smile to those trying to get a
Worked-All-States on RTTY. Status updates at <http://w4hod.com/>
You may wish to recruit a "Team" of 2 to 5 single operators. Their
scores will be combined for a Team score. I always enjoy the
creative Team names. Teams must be registered before the start of
the contest at the Team Registration link on
<http://www.ncjweb.com/contests.php>
You may run across a European station working the DMC RTTY contest,
and they'll want a "signal report + serial number" e.g., "599 001".
Be sure to get their NAME for your NAQP log.
I look forward to seeing you in NAQP RTTY on Saturday July 16, 2011.
