Hi everyone
A reminder that the 2011 Oceania DX contest will be livening up the HF bands
over the next two weekends. The PHONE section is running over this coming
weekend (1/2 October) and the CW section is on the following weekend (8/9
October).
The contest provides a unique opportunity to contact a large number of Oceania
stations using the SSB and CW modes and on all of the non-WARC bands between
160M and 10M. As well as VK, ZL and YB stations we are expecting a good turnout
from some of the rarer Oceania entities. This year the Oceania Amateur Radio DX
Group is undertaking a major DXpedition to Vanuatu and will be active in the
contest using the callsign YJ0VK - see http://yj0vk.odxg.org/ for more
information. The Christmas Island DXpedition will also be active using the
callsign T32C.
PHONE operators – please note the following:
1. In order to promote activity on 160M it is suggested that operators look for
QSOs on frequencies between 1855 kHz and 1865 kHz and at 15 minutes and 45
minutes past each hour during the period when Oceania stations are in darkness.
2. 40M operators are reminded to listen above 7128 kHz for North America
stations.
