This may or may not have worked but maybe it might've been the only
thing you could've done to work the K4. Quickly tune around a bit and
find a clear frequency nearby if possible. Then as soon as you hear
the WA3 start to send his call, send "UP1" or whatever. Quickly QSY
and call the K4 and hope he heard you through the WA3. Maybe if you're
lucky the WA3 wasn't on full break-in and the K4 heard you and QSY'ed
with you.
