It's only about a month until Saturday night at the Crown Plaza where you
can test your CW pileup skills on the latest competition concocted by
Russ-K0VXU for the Kansas City DX Club's Hospitality Suite.
If you're consistently in the top ten you probably don't need any warm-up
or practice to improve score but for those of us for which it is a
challenge to get to the next level, be it 20s/30s/40s, a little warm-up
with some practice files from past competitions might be helpful. To that
end Russ has assisted me in collecting files from 1998-2012 to add to a
practice mode version of the application used at the competition.
It's the same application you will use as a player except:
1. You choose which of the previous competitions to play
2. You can measure your results against top and average scores of the
actual event
3. You receive an analysis showing the good and bad calls you logged
The (freeware) application along with all of the audio and validation files
can be downloaded from this link.<http://www.no5w.com/PileUpNetPractice.html>
Even if you have never had the opportunity to participate in the pileup
competition it might be fun to see how you would stack up against those
that have been able to play. To obtain the most accurate comparison of your
results to those that took the actual test you should precede your practice
sessions with your own capacity for adult beverages.
Hope to CU at the KCDXC Suite on Dayton Saturday night,
73,
Chuck/NO5W
