Hi folks,
I should be in AK by end of October 2013 for business purpose.
Will stay there about 2 weeks, and as time frame is within the CQWW SSB, I am
starting to see if can make an entry from zone 1...
I will in the northernmost city of the US: Barrow.
Such high latitudes will be new for me, so propagation will be one of
discoveries among other.
Is there anybody around there who can deal with me about a way to be on the air
or better has a free seat in its station ?
I've checked on FCC directory, looks like there are few hams in Barrow, but I
do not have collected any email yet.
Portable operation is almost impossible due to date and temperature outside...
Does any foreigner have experience with US customs about RF equipment ?
If I bring with me TRX and PA do I need any special papers ? (We are very fond
of administrative papers in France !)
Is there a way to get a special callsign (vanity like) or only KL7/F4CIB is
allowed (had a look on ARRL&FCC pages and looks like vanity are reserved for US
citizens)
Would be nice if any of you can help me to transform this opportunity.
Regards,
Franck, F4CIB. (F6KNB, TM0HQ)
