What is it with Europeans and cut numbers?

During a semi-fast run I had going, there was a EU guy (I forget his call,
but suffice to say central EU.) who was sending me something like AGEU or
something bizarre like that. I made him repeat it 6 or 7 times. Finally,
this fella figured out he wasn't making any headway (and apparently needed
VE9 for a mult, cuz he never left) and he sent the number 1752 (I think it
was) by his paddles....flubbing it up the first time (I laughed).........

I know how to decode AGEU @ 35wpm if it was a word, but to then translate it
to a number during a 150-200hr pileup..uhh.no, not going to happen.

Good times. (or not!_)

Oh-and, by the way, when a running station says "NR" -or "NR?", he doesn't
want to hear "TU 5NN 123", he just wants to hear the 123 !

(hint* if he's asking, it's usually because you are uber weak or there is
QRM like keyclicks taking everything out.

Or, when a running station says back to the caller 123? He doesn't need
you to repeat the number as that starts the whole cycle over again.

Best to send RRR or even QSL.

My 2c worth.

!?!?!?!?!
