It is a bit tragic that there was so much apathy amongst the operators
in the SSB Sprint PRIOR to ARRL/NCJ's decision to drop it. These
apathetic few now grouse about that decision, but even they cite
reduction in participation, conflicts with casual operators and nets, etc.
Few, if any, made the necessary effort to "beat the drum, spread the
word, proselytize, and generally do 'rah-rah' work" to keep the Sprint
alive. Only AFTER the decision did a group get together to attempt at
revival. I wish the new organizing group luck, but would remind them
that continual, long term, sustained effort will be necessary to keep
the SSB going. Will this group have sufficient organizing ability to
maintain a momentum. Lettuce prey this so!
