I guess I'm the guy designed to bust these tools...

In SS, I operate from NH, VT and MA using W1VE, so the friend file is going
to kill you in SS.  It does so to a lot of people every time.

In DX Contests, many times W1UE and I operate in the same contest with our
own calls.  DITS MATTER!!  You don't want to see our reports.  It is ugly.

Dennis and I do a lot of remote.  The exchange may be different.

This is not by design, it is by choice.  Simple fix: COPY what you hear.
This is as old as ham radio.  In this case, technology may be hurting you.
I say don't abandon them, but don't use them as a crutch -- use them as a
verification tool to what you COPY.
