Thie weekend, RAEM Contest takes place between 27 Dec 0000 UTC and 1159 UTC.

For those who like CW contests with a more complex exchange, this is the
one...

Skip the 599 and just focus on serial number and your geographical position
described in the following way:

41N72W

N=North
W=East
S=South
O=East (from German Ost) Ernst Krenkel's mother tongue was German before
he learnt Russian

So, the exchange is simply: 001 41N72W (if you transmit from W1AW)

More details on the homepage: http://raem.srr.ru/en/rules/

For those who would like to know more about Ernst Krenkel,here is a short
presentation:

"Radio amateurs from around the world are invited to participate in the
44th RAEM contest organised by “Soyuz Radioljubitelej Rossii” (Union of
Radioamateurs of Russia) in memory of Ernst Krenkel (1903-1971) – famous
polar investigator and radio communications operator (callsign RAEM), Hero
of the Soviet Union, chairman of the USSR Radiosport Federation
(1959-1971), and the first chairman of Central Radio Club of the USSR.
Beginning in 1924, Krenkel was a pioneering member and main radio operator
of many Russian Arctic winter research expeditions, as well as a veteran of
the Russian Arctic polar station “North Pole-1” and numerous other Arctic
marine expeditions"

73 and see you in RAEM Contest!

RM2D (SM6LRR), Mats
