Hello all,

My former call was NJ4F.  About 20 years ago, on a WPX CW contest, which has always been my favorite, we had stations coming back to us as 'N1VF' and even 'N14F' (as if we can do that one here in the states...)  It was such a mess, that a couple of the ops told me if I didn't do 'something' with the call, they wouldn't be back.  I got NR4M as a vanity call.

Fast forward to current times...  Now, I have issues with people mis-copying the call as NR-5-M.  I'm this is a case of not really copying the call, but clicking on a bad spot and not checking before sending their callsign.    Terrible thing to be operating during the typical Sunday afternoon doldrums and all of a sudden get a hugh pile up of stations who are all dupes, thinking they are working NR-5-M.  Obviously, this is a would be a contest in which George, NR5M, is not participating in.

You just have to find a new frequency.

I have another way to do it. If all of a sudden I get a big pile up loaded with dupes, I
announce, I"I think I have been spotted with bad call. My call is KH7XS, I repeat,
KH7XS". Some of the idiot point and click guys will still call but this usually
does the trick. A

I HATE to give up a hard won run freq....especially on 20 or 40.

Hello Vitor,

A good way to handle the situation when you are getting repeated dupes from
your call being mis-spotted, is to move your transmit frequency. It will
fix the problem.

PY2NY here...

Oh, Lord, I suffered a lot with busted call PY2NR Sunday night in ARRL SSB.

Dupe Dupe Dupe Dupe, after 15minutes I was tired to repeat that...

Maybe because I am not doing contests enough hi hi

All the best guys, thanks for those QSO's (dupes included) during the
contest, and if you are in doubt, call me anyway.

Bye bye and enjoy your weekend.

All it takes is one busted spot of you on your run freq, especially on
Sunday, and you can quickly get DXCC or WAS in dupes.

I think I saw ZF9CW get mis-spotted on Sunday and swamped with dupes, too.

At least no BY1T spots on 160 and 10M this time...
