I don't have a problem with remote stations as long
as they are used in a "fair" manner. Figgering out what
is "fair" is far above my pay grade.
My reason for this note is to say that remote statons
are not really new. As I remember my first QSO with a
California station was a "remote" and that was in about
1961 or so. I can't seem to find the card but the station
was remoted by phone lines I believe. FCC rules when I
took the General test in 1960 or so had questions about
remote control of ham station, as I remember.
The need for remote stations (especially receivers) today
is rather severe. If they are not used ham radio will soon
be a hobby only available to those who live in rural areas.
Between land use restrictions and the awful crud created by
consumer electronics operation from populated areas is
presently very difficult.
