My first experience was with a very cheap no brand model operating on 27MHz. 
Yes, that band...
Didn't work because probably too close to our frequencies, especially right 
under the tower running QRO.

After a bit of searching, hams suggested you need to find a model operating in 
the 2.4GHz band.
I bought a top-of-the line Microsoft brand mouse-keybd combo running 2.4GHz and 
it has worked flawlessly in my ham shack, running all HF bands with QRO.
My son uses a Logitech combo (costing half the MS kit's price) in his room 
under my shack, and he didn't report any problems.

Bottom line: go for a real brand in the 2.4GHz band.
