GA Randy
My Single Band question has showed me not everyone knows the
correct answer.
You have explained it well but I see Jeff WK6I point of
view. Then if you
go to the FAQ for CQ WW CW and SSB and near the beginning
you see this line
/ " The explanations here apply ONLY to the CQ WW SSB and
CW Contests " I can imagine some people thinking CQ
WPX RTTY is a totally different contest with different
rules. I do believe you are correct Randy but, going forward A line
of clarification in the WPX rules would help.

This is covered in the CQ WW rules FAQ.

Q: For a single-band entry, is it allowed to be looking for multipliers on
other bands to request a QSY, sked or even just asking if a multiplier is
operating that band?
No, it is not. The rules state: "All entrants must operate within the limits of
their chosen category when performing any activity that could affect their submitted
score." Entering single band means that all activity to improve your score must be
only on that band. You are permitted to work stations on other bands, but you are not
allowed to ask them to QSY or make schedules.
Same in the CQ WPX rules FAQ. The RTTY contests don't have an FAQ, but I think
you can assume it would be similar.
You are certainly welcome to make QSOs on other bands while entering single
band. You just shouldn't ask for people to move to your band. The guiding
rule is this:
X. GENERAL RULES FOR ALL ENTRANTS:
A. Entrants must operate within the limits of their chosen category when
performing any activity that could affect their submitted score.

Subject: [CQ-Contest] Single band rule WPX RTTY
GM All
It has been a few years since I last read the rules so I decided to
look them over.
Actually I read them a few times. My memory is not what it once was
so maybe
I remember wrong. I could find no rule in regards to a Single Band
operator
who is competing on say 40 meters yet goes to 20 meters and ask if an
operator
there could QSY to 40. I thought some years back that was against
the rules.
Remember I am talking about Single Band operation, not all band
operations.
Are we allowed to ask a 20 meter guy to QSY to 40 meters? Yes I know
it takes
time and how often would you want to do it but that is not my
question.
