I am not sure if any of you outside of the WRTC teams are following what's
going on with WRTC but its not pretty. Between the social engineering of rules
to turn the even into a EU "interest in contesting" generator and the not
unexpected boiling over of Russian participation and marching in under flags,
its starting to sound like the political Olympics mess in my opinion.
Personally, I have no issue with any of the topics being argued. But it just
strikes me that "what group would want to take on the next one?" as we see all
this play out. Not to mention the COVID delay kicking it into 2023 in the
first place.

By normal schedule, we would already know where WRTC 2024 (which happens
sometimes at the sunspot peak) or WRTC 2026 would be being held. Is there any
talk of another sponsoring Contest club?

Personally, I think the whole concept of WRTC is coming to an end. A few of
the best contesters in the world aren't even in the competition. As the sport
evolves with 2BSIQ and so much assisted, is there a point any more in grouping
in 2s to contest in a way virtually no one contests to qualify for? Why not
have a Radiosport Championship every 2 or 4 years that is simple, not
political, not with multi agenda, that is just the best 20 - 30 contesters
doing their thing individually in a much scaled back setting where they don't
represent their country but themselves. Hard to get political over that.

That way the best of the best can actually settle the score. That is really
not the case in WRTC.

Just my opinion as I watch what's going on.
